TRAIL REPORT
Hello, TNAB'ers:
The 2006 season is now officially under way. The first hike of the season was Dirty Harry's Balcony, this year's alternative to Little Si. In attendance was Chris, Dan, Don, Drew, Mark, Russ, Sherry, and newbie Chris.
Welcome to TNAB, Chris!
The weather was perfect, slightly overcast and warm for this time of year. We parked outside the gate to the Fire Training Center and breezed up the 0.6 mi of road to the DH trailhead. Given the relatively short destination, the hike quickly became a sprint to the finish. We started at 5:50 PM, and arrived at DHB just an hour later.
Dirty Harry's Balcony is a nice little perch atop a cliffline at around 2500 ft el. From there, we took in the views of McClellan Butte and the I-90 corridor. Directly east of us, some Defiance Ridge creek tumbled down a cliff face as a waterfall. We broke out a couple bottles of ABA (good pickup, Dan!) and started the celebration.
We hung out for nearly 30 minutes, then, under a waxing moon, we packed it up and headed home...to the NBB&G! Chicken quesadillas, Snowcap on tap - it is the life. What a great start to the season - didn't even need a headlamp!
Next Hike: Tiger Mountain - the West Tiger Tour! We will attempt to hit all 3 West Tiger summits in one outing.
Cheers!
-Mark
BTW: Dan has already updated the website with pics from DHB - check it out!
