TRAIL REPORT
The 2005 TNAB Hiking Season is now officially over. Summer ended at 3:23 PM PST. Nothing left to do but PARTY on Rattlesnake Ledge!
The weather was perfect for hiking: partly cloudy, little wind, and temps in the 60's. The parking lot was full, but the trail was not super-crowded, and mostly dry. An excellent turnout of thirteen were on hand: Chris, Craig (new vet!), Dan, Don, Jason, Jeff (TNAB), Jeff (Hichen), Joan, Larry, Lynda, Mark, Megan (2nd Gen TNAB'er!) and Tom.
We started around 6:10 PM, and we were on top a little after 7:00 PM. The sunset views were divine. Time to start setting up the feast!
In a departure from previous end-of-the-season fiestas, this year was dedicated to the tortilla, not the burger. Quesadillas, burritos and fajitas (what's the difference?) ruled. Of course, there was plenty of "beverages" to go around, as well, including Dan's homebrew TNAB IPA. Yeah, baby! Chips and potato salad were the sides, while the desserts were brownies (Joan), cheesecake (Craig) and toffee squares (Tom). All in all, good stuff!
Jason, Joan and Larry came up with an extra surprise: the 2005 TNAB t-shirt! It's a simple yet "elegant" design, and comes in 2 colors: gray and blue. I was completely caught off guard - way to go, guys! There are still some available for the purchasing (hint hint)...
And just like that, it was over. Back to the parking lot by 9:30 PM. It has been a great season - I'm most happy to help make it happen. Already looking forward to 2006, making new friends, and scouting new trails. In the meantime, here are some tentatively scheduled events:
