TRAIL REPORT
Short and sweet. Damon, Don, Larry, Lynda, Mark and Tom hit Rampart Ridge. We didn't get started until 6:15 PM, mostly because RR is way out there on the other side of Snoqualmie Pass. There were actually several other vehicles parked at "our" trailhead - interesting. The weather was pleasant, warm but not hot, nor was it windy or buggy. The skies were slightly overcast.
We made excellent progress to Lake Lillian, hitting it within 30 minutes. As soon as we were out of view of the lake, the other views started popping up. Stuart was first, then Rainier showed up, then the rest of the area peaks. Wonderful!
We took the well-practiced direct approach to the ridge, reaching the high point by 7:30 PM. Outstanding! Great reflection off the lakes below. We milled around for about 15 minutes, then began the descent. It went fairly quickly, although Tom and I got into "who can go without their headlamp the longest" contest. The rules were subjective, and the results varying, but we both made it out sin lux (but not without a few new scratches). I call it a draw.
Everyone was out a bit after 9:00 PM. Next stop - NBBG! :)
Great hike, everyone!
Next Hike: Mailbox II - good weather this time, right?
Only three weeks to Rattlesnake Ledge and the season-ending cookout!
