A brisk jaunt up along and over the forest service roads led us to the trails that lead up to the Butte, excellent trail conditions and phenomenal weather sped us along our way.
At the first avalanche chute/scree field Larry and Jason took a detour - straight up to the ridge! They stayed to the far right as they climbed and report that the path up is challenging, but very negotiable… it led the to the chute the feeds in just below the butte scramble.
The rest of the group took the traditional route around the backside of the ridge, through a couple of small snow patches (!) and down into the meadows. Their was a fair bit of standing water down in the swampy areas, but nothing too bad. We then climbed back up to the ridge and made the scramble to the summit.
After enjoying the views and having snackes everyone decended down safely to the parking lot where we were met by Mark bearing gifts of beer and chips! YUM! What a great way to wrap up a hike.
All in all an excellent time was had by all!
