Matt's Hike Summary: Hanging out on Humpback

Thanks to Phil's directions we were able to find the trail no problem. We drove up to where the left turn logging road is gated and hiked up the road for about a 1/2 mile reading the warning signs about not picking up minerals without express consent of those who own the mining claims. The trail is pretty obvious up the embankment, and then quite obvious through the woods. Someone apparently does some trail manintenance since it was well blazed, and clear of brush. There's intermittent boulder hopping as you get closer to the ridge, and a nice open boulder field on the summit ridge with good views in all directions. Bruce's wrist mounted altichronotachinclithermometer showed a total gain of just over 2200 ft, and probably 2-2.5 miles, so it was a quick hour up, a nice relaxing summit with NO BUGS, and perfect temperatures. It seems to be the time of year when the bees are out and stinging though - Larry took a couple hits for the team, and I managed to brush one off without damange. We were out in time to avoid headlamps, and back down to _Eastgate_ by 9:30. All in all a nice little hike for an afternoon, and I'm sure it stays pretty un-crowded on the weekends.
